Tropicanna Black is new dark leaved Canna

Tropicanna Black® is a new Canna introduced by Tesselaar International. Available from 2011, it joins their Tropicanna (var. ‘Phasion’) and Tropicanna® Gold (var. MACtro ) to complete a spectacular trio of plants.

Tesselaar describe Tropicanna Black's combination of colours as being truly striking, with purple and black leaves contrasted against rich scarlet and orange flowers that appear from spring through to autumn.

Tropicanna Black can be planted directly in the ground, where it will grow to 180cm high in its second year, or in pots and other containers, where it will reach 120cm.

Mature width is around 50 cm, while the lily-shaped flowers appear on stalks of 10 – 13cm long.
