We’re a partnership between garden designer John Pannell and conservation surveyor John Heaton and we create imaginative, artistic (and practical) garden designs in Somerset, Bristol and Bath. Our portfolio includes country house and farmhouse gardens, small cottage gardens and urban courtyards, and gardens for modern contemporary properties. With our conservation and architectural skills, we can also restore and find new uses for those old unloved garden buildings or design new ones, such as a summerhouse, studio, or folly.

Qualifications & Experience

John Pannell: I’ve loved gardens and gardening since I was a child. I’ve been fortunate in having the opportunity to design, build and plant several of my own gardens as well as designing for our clients. I studied design at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design and worked for many years in the theatre where I collaborated with other artists, sculptors and designers. This background has given me a good understanding of how to make creative use of colour, texture, form and space in my garden designs.John Heaton: I am a Chartered Surveyor with a background in historic building conservation and have worked on a number of wonderful conservation projects for the National Trust, Historic England and private clients. Gardens compliment houses and this setting is as important for a small cottager or modern house as it is for a large historic building.
