2 Johns Design

View website

My name is John Pannell - I’m the principal garden designer for 2 Johns, ably assisted by conservation surveyor John Heaton (the other John) who helps with construction and project management. Together we have created a number of beautiful imaginative gardens in Somerset and Bristol. Some of these have been large gardens for country houses but we also love to design small compact gardens for cottages and town houses. Whatever the size or shape of the project we like to spend time with our clients to explore all the options and will do our very best to create the garden they want.\r\n

Qualifications & Experience

John Pannell: I’ve loved gardens and gardening since I was a child. I’ve been fortunate in having the opportunity to design, build and plant several of my own gardens as well as designing for our clients. I studied design at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design and worked for many years in the theatre where I collaborated with other artists, sculptors and designers. This background has given me a good understanding of how to make creative use of colour, texture, form and space in my garden designs.John Heaton: I am a Chartered Surveyor with a background in historic building conservation and have worked on a number of wonderful conservation projects for the National Trust, Historic England and private clients. Gardens compliment houses and this setting is as important for a small cottager or modern house as it is for a large historic building.
